How many times do you hear someone say, “The cheapest place to buy that is at this place” or do you hear someone you are getting something for? like your Mum or Dad, say ” Get me the cheapest one“?
It’s an everyday saying and sometimes that’s exactly what we do! Maybe it’s because we are looking for a bargain or we believe that we should only spend the smallest amount on that item, or the person we are buying for insists on having it for the cheapest price.
But what happens?
Well, if it’s food it probably doesn’t taste as good, or if it’s clothes they don’t last very long before wearing out or becoming all bobbled, etc.
In parallel to this, how many times do you think or are asked to do something as quickly as possible? “Just get the task done then carry on with the rest of your day. Take whatever shortcuts you can to accelerate the process”!
I wanted to get some content out on social media and thought if I used someone else I could get it done quickly and with very little effort. So I booked a young lady from the Philippines to produce and publish this for me. I had a very quick Zoom call with her and then left her to get on with it.
JOB DONE, right?!
I bet you can imagine what the results were like.
Yes, I had people contact me from the posts only they were not the people I was looking to work with. They weren’t ready, or they had totally misread the message from the posts and thought they were calling for something else.
All that time making calls and Zoom meetings with the people who responded was wasted.
So I have learned the hard way that,
I have to think about the message,
I have to create the content and
I have to put in all the hard work to find the right people to work with who are ready and want to work with me by creating the right posts and ads.
The moral of this story is:
Buy Cheap, But Twice
Take the easy route and you will find it’s actually harder than doing it properly in the first place.
